Just so you know, I did an analysis of the currently posted data using your formula A + (ilvl / B), which is I think what you're proposing. GGG hasn't said anything one way or another. It's probably the same or similar, but who knows. The most obvious difference is that a dropped item doesn't need to 'reroll' colors. The data will speak for itself, although I also have my doubts about whether or not drop/vendor data is really the same function as a chromatic orb. Fitting the data with an extra parameter is obviously going to make the fit better, but that'll always be true if you keep adding parameters.
